Belgium's intention to extend their term of office of peacekeeping force in south Lebanon

Visiting Belgian Defense Minister Dekeleimu 2, said here today that Belgium intends to extend its presence in southern Lebanon peacekeeping force's mandate.

Dekeleimu day, met with Lebanese President Suleiman, House Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister Rafik Hariri issued a press release, saying the meeting, he told Lebanese leaders informed the Government of Belgium will be based on the Belgian battalion in southern Lebanon The term of office extended until the end of 2011, as well as to further strengthen the idea of the Belgian battalion.

Dekeleimu said, worrying situation in southern Lebanon, Belgium, at the United Nations Interim Force in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL), within the presence of troops through Belgium to try to maintain stability in southern Lebanon.

Lebanon's Presidential Press Office said in a statement the same day, President Suleiman discussed Dekeleimu, and in July this year holds the rotating EU presidency, Belgium, after the UN Security Council non-permanent members to strengthen cooperation between Lebanon and Belgium provided military aid to Lebanon and so on.

Dekeleimu arrived in Beirut earlier in the day visit to Lebanon. During his visit he will inspect the presence of the Belgian battalion in southern Lebanon.
